HYDERABAD: Hurling power-packed dialogues at the Congress, IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday said he had stood by his earlier statement that the Congress had betrayed the people of Telangana.

“Uttam Garu, I stand by my words that Congress party’s history is filled with betrayals, treachery & deception with respect to Telangana agitation starting from 1952, all the way to 2014. It was the inevitability conferred upon by people’s movement which resulted in Telangana,” KTR tweeted on Sunday night, while hitting back at TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

“We shall surely let people decide whose party is morally bankrupt when we go to polls next. Let me remind you that I had offered to quit political life if TRS is not voted back to power. I am going to keep my word whether or not you keep yours (of doing the same if you lose),” the IT Minister further Tweeted.

Earlier in the day, TPCC president Uttam, who too of late has begun trying to be active on Twitter like KTR, criticised the ruling TRS, particularly KTR.

“Smt. Sonia Gandhi will always remain in the hearts of Telangana people for creating a new State. For @KTRTRS to make reprehensible statements against her is gross indecency & reflects his moral bankruptcy. @INCTelangana & the people will teach him a lesson,” Uttam tweeted.

Mukesh Goud & TRS

Former minister and Congress leader in Hyderabad M Mukesh Goud is said to be considering the proposal to embrace TRS sooner or later. Even as Mukesh was saying that he would remain with the Congress, TRS Hyderabad city unit president and MLC Mynampally Hanmanth Rao on Sunday called on him. This development further provided credence to the speculation that Mukesh might leave the Congress.

Against this backdrop, TPCC chief Uttam reportedly called on Mukesh at the latter’s residence and asked him to come to Gandhi Bhavan on Monday.
