Recently installed surveillance system in G’gram receives 150 complaints

The Gurugram police have received around 150 complaints at city surveillance system which became operational from January at the Commissioner of police office. The system, also known as Anti-crime networking tracking system, is installed to control traffic violations and petty crimes.

A high-tech system had captured a kidnapping incident which occurred earlier in February this year at the Jail Chowk, few meters away from the Commissioner of police office. The entire incident was captured by the CCTV cameras which helped cops to crack the case.

As of now the city surveillance system has been connected with 61 cameras including fixed, rotated and night vision cameras on 15 different locations that include Jail Road, upscale Civil Lines area, Mor Chowk and Sohna Chowk.

“People can directly connect with the high tech system with the help of box fixed beneath the CCTV cameras poll on the roads. The victim can push Green button installed inside the box which will connect them city surveillance control room and a victim can explain their ordeal to cops,” Deputy Commissioner of police (headquarters), Deepak Gahlawat, said.

“The cop on duty will contact the nearest PCR to help the victim. Later they will inform the concern police station who will tackle the matter”.

“The city surveillance system will help us to development identity of the criminal as well as traffic violators. We can check traffic movement in just a click in the ambit of the cameras. We are also sending postal challan to the traffic violators with the help of this technology. The surveillance system is being worked 24x7,” the DCP, said.

Sources said the high tech system will soon connect across police stations in the city. At present, around 65,000 thousand cameras are working in the entire district including private organisations and personal cameras of the residents. The department is planning to connect these cameras to the police stations along with the city surveillance system to tab on criminal activities. However, the matter is under process with the district administration.
