Miscreants booked for police exam paper leak rumour

LUCKNOW: An FIR was lodged against unidentified miscreants by the police recruitment and promotion board in Hussainganj police station on Saturday.

In a complaint to the police, additional secretary, Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Sureshwar stated that some miscreants on June 17 and 18 had spread rumours about cancellation of constable recruitment exam and also posted a fake letter bearing the monogram of the police recruitment board to this effect on social media.

The examination for recruitment of police constables was held at 860 centres for 41,520 posts spread in 56 districts of the state on June 18 and 19.

CO (Hazratganj) Abhay Mishra said that a case was lodged for tampering government documents, destroying image of a government institute and under IT Act (66 and 66C) in this connection. "A police official will soon be assigned to probe the case and arrest the miscreants," he said.

On June 17 and 18 some miscreants had circulated messages on social media about the cancellation of the exam due to paper leak. The miscreants had also uploaded a letter on social media stating that the exams had been cancelled following the leak.

A few days ahead of the exam, the UPSTF had also arrested 16 miscreants who tried to rig the examination by evading the biometric system and impersonating candidates.
