A man attempted suicide outside Gate no. 2 of the Vidhana Soudha on Saturday. He claimed he was a victim of cheating and harassment.
Gangadhar, 40, a realtor from Gauribidanur, stepped out his car, walked up to the security personnel outside Gate no. 2 and consumed poison, all while announcing that justice had not been served and that he was being harassed. The security personnel snatched the bottle from him. He was later taken to a private hospital.
“Gangadhar runs a real estate business and was reportedly cheated of several lakhs of rupees by Bengaluru-based realtor Shivappa,” the police said. He alleged that Shivappa had the backing of an MLA and he was being harassed for asking him to repay the loan.
He told the police that he had come to Bengaluru on Friday and met with Shivappa, who reportedly humiliated him. “It was after this incident that Gangadhar decided to end his life outside Vidhana Soudha in an attempt to get the government’s attention,” said the police.
