Gajapati district Collector Anupam Saha has started a “Teach Gajapati” campaign in Paralakhemundi at the Mahendragiri Municipality High School.

Saha taught Geography to Class-IX students of the school teaching them about India’s map and neighbouring countries for more than an hour. Later, he told mediapersons, “The students have enough talents to secure good marks. We need to provide them proper teaching and monitor their studied on a day-to-day bases.

District Education Officer Sanjib Kumar Singh said the “Teach Gajapati” programme is under the “Aama School Campaign” launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to provide quality education to the children. The “Teach Gajapati” drive would give enough opportunity to retired teachers and retired officers who are interested to teach children.

Sub-Collector-cum-District Programme Coordinator of Sarva Shiksha Abiyan Anam Charan Patra, Mahendragiri High School Head Mistress Subha Lakshmi Das and Paralakhemundi CRCT Krishna Rao were present while Collector was teaching the students.

Notably, Gajapati is a tribals-dominated district with a population of over 5,77,817 according to the 2011 Census. This year, HSC result brought a great shame to the district, which was once upon a time a good educational region, as not a single student of the district from both Government and private schools could secure A+ Grade.

So, the district administration has taken steps to provide quality education to the children under the banner of “Teach Gajapati” campaign with a theme “Let’s Join Hands for Future Gajapati”.

The district Collector Saha also checked the students’ notes and corrected them and encouraged them to study well.

People of the district were all praise for the efforts of the Collector to improve the district’s education system; and many are now willing to voluntarily teach the students.
