Heads of Indian missions attend brainstorming meet in Delhi

The Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday began a three-day brainstorming session with the Indian ambassadors posted all over the world to discuss country's priorities in foreign policy matters and other people centric issues.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated the 9th Heads of Mission Conference themed Rs Unprecedented Outreach: Unparalleled Outcomes.'

"The time of the year when all our Ambassadors and High Commissioners come to Delhi for a brainstorming session on promoting India's national interests abroad," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

With the government now moving towards the last year of its term, it wants to complete all its targets in the foreign policy. The discussions will also focus on the challenges faced by the Indian missions and the grievances of citizens. The government is expected to brief the envoys on economic reform initiatives and steps taken for ease-of-doing business so that they can highlight them in their respective countries of postings.

Indian envoys in multilateral forums are also attending the conference. The last day of the session is addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
