Non inclusion of the Jagatsinghpur district in the list of the 20 hospitals to be set up across the State under the Biju health scheme has triggered a resentment here as the common people, several organisations and associations held demonstration against it.

Dissenting the State Government’s decision on Friday, several organisations, including the District Bar Association, journalists’ association, Municipality Chairman and Councilors, social activists, besides the Congress, submitted separate memorandums addressed to State Chief Minister through the Additional District Magistrate [ADM], Jagatsinghpur, in this regard.

Furthermore, some organisations have decided to launch a ‘Padayatra’ to Bhubaneswar pressing their demand, informed Urmilochan Pathagara secretary Pramod Kumar Swain.

However, the date has not been settled but supports are pouring in from across the district for conducting the Padayatra, Swain added.

The bar association members led by president Raj Kishor Behera on Friday staged demonstration and submitted a memorandum before the ADM Jagatsinghpur fuming the move.

Soon after lawyers’ body left the Collectorate, hundreds of Congress supporters led by district president Natabar Barik entered the ADM office and submitted a memorandum. They threatened that the Congress party would take to streets over the apathy shown to Jagatsinghpur.

Sources added that Jagatsinghpur civic body Chairman Biplab Choudhury accompanying a few Councillors too protested before the ADM office on Friday opposing non-inclusion of Jagatsinghpur in the proposed PPP hospitals’ list and submitted a memo addressed to the CM, the Chief Secretary and the Health Minister.

Meanwhile, district scribes’ body too submitted a memorandum to the ADM and will be launching a massive public awareness campaign, said association president Radhakanta Mishra.
