Burha Pahar residents still under shadow of Maoists

The ‘forced tie’ between the CPI Maoists and the residents of Burha Pahar, 28 families in all numbering more than 125 members, camping on ground after coming down from Burha Pahar, at Madgari Panchayat Bhavan has not yet severed.

“An area commander of CPI Maoist had visited these people of Burha Pahar camping at Madgari four or five days before the June 26 blast of the security forces between Khapree Mahua and had incited and provoked them to return to their homes on this pahar,” DGP DK Pandey said.

Security concerns of these people have been well addressed to like there is a CRPF camp within full eye sight of this camp besides cops of JAP are deployed on the first floor of this panchayat bhavan. Sources said SP Garhwa Shivani Tiwary monitors them on a day to day basis also.

Sources said some people of this camp just disappear for days together and again resurface and none in this place is ready to tell where these people go.

This newspaper searched for employment avenues which might have pulled out these people from this camp to that work site but this was not the case. The alleged disappearance is most enigmatic and what DGP has said about Maoists poking their nose here cannot be seen in isolation said sources.

The revelation of the State’s top cop is very significant given the fact that people who have come down from the pahar and are now leading a peaceful life on the ground/ plains at Madgari have still not severed their all ties with the Maoists of this pahar under whom they have lived a life of total subjugation and humiliation when right before their eyes the Maoists used to get ‘begari” ( work for no wages) done by their sons and daughters.

Jagdish Kisan is one such settler at Madgari from this Burha Pahar. This Kisan ( A primitive tribe group) said, “ I have bitter memories of our life there where my fifteen years old daughter was held by them ) the Maoists) and my girl used to perform all the chores for them like washing utensils and cooking food for them. But I want to go again to bring back my 10 -15 quintals of paddy that I have left behind in my house on this pahar when I came down with my family and this daughter.”
