Security forces gunned down a Maoist commander in an encounter in Sukma district of south Chhattisgarh on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The encounter took place under Fulbagdi police station limits of Sukma district.
“A team commander of the CPI (Maoist) action team was killed in this encounter. One Maoist militia deputy commander was also apprehended from the spot of the encounter,” informed Abhishekh Meena, the district Superintendent of Police, Sukma.
The operation was carried out by the District Reserve Guard, Chhattisgarh police’s special anti-Maoist unit. The Maoist, killed in last night's encounter, was identified as Jaggu.
The DRG team also recovered a weapon, ammunition and other material from the spot of the encounter.
