S Goa issues: CS holds meeting with officials

MARGAO: The Chief  Secretary (CS)Dharmendra  Sharma, on Saturday, held a meeting with  the  officials of the South  Goa district administration, GSIDC and PWD,  and discussed various issues pertaining to the district, including the  maintenance of the  Collectorate building.

The meeting was held at the Collectorate building. Interestingly,  this is  the first  visit of the Chief  Secretary to the South  Goa district.

“It was an interaction  meet. I have discussed a  few issues pertaining  to  the district administration.  The district Collector also  informed me about the problems,  they

collectively face,” said Sharma while exclusively speaking to this

daily following conclusion of the half-an-hour meeting.

He  also  held  a  separate close-door

meeting with the district Collector, additional Collectors, and  deputy Collectors.

Before the start of the meeting,  Sharma, inspected the Collectorate  building along with the district Collector Anjali Sehrawat, additional Collectors  Surendra Naik and  Johnson Fernandes, and other officials, and  directed the  Goa  State Infrastructure  Development  Corporation (GSIDC) to  take up the maintenance work of the building.

He also sought a detailed report of the requirement from the GSIDC officials.

“I am  going to  visit the district once in two weeks to  have review meetings,” the Chief Secretary told the officers.

“I have worked  in  bigger states.  Working in Goa is different.  Goa being small,  people are known to each and everybody.  However we will not  tolerate  the threats to the officers,” he  responded  when an official placed an incident of threat before him.

Sharma assured to speak to the  Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar about the required amendment to the  Public Officers’ Protection Act.

Sources informed that  Sharma would  hold meetings with the officials maintaining law and order in the district.
