The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind will interact with the Centre and State governments and the local administration to find solutions to incidents of communal violence in the country. It will also disseminate literature on Islam among non-Muslims in English, Hindi and other Indian languages to convey “the peaceful and ethical teachings of Islam” in the interest of social reconciliation and harmony.
This was decided at a working committee meeting of the Muslim organisation on Sunday.
“The working committee conceded that since misunderstanding among Hindus and Muslims is one of the reasons for the rise of violent incidents, it has been decided to convey peaceful and ethical teachings of Islam to non-Muslim brethren. For this purpose, Jamiat will publish and disseminate Islamic literature in Hindi, English and other regional languages,” said a press release.
“Also, efforts shall be made to remove the cobweb of misunderstanding by extending social works under the provision of the organizational constitution.”
As regards the Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Masjid dispute and the Assam citizenship issue, the organisation has decided to step up legal efforts on the two fronts.
“The working committee decided to extend every possible help to the party of Babri Masjid side whenever required. Since the issue of Assamese citizenship has also turned out to be very critical, Jamiat has decided to fight this legal battle in the apex court with full force”.
