AURANGABAD: Four persons died and 15 others were injured on Sunday when
lightning struck them at Domuhan ghat on the confluence of Batane and Punpun rivers near Obra village in
Aurangabad district. They had gone there to cremate co-villager Ramesh Dubey. The deceased were identified as Pankaj Kumar Gupta,
Upendra Singh, Vishnupat Sao and Dashrath Chaudhari of the same Obra village.
DM Rahul Ranjan Mahiwal said an ex gratia payment of Rs4 lakh would be made to the next of kin of each deceased and the district administration would bear the cost of treatment of all the injured, who were rushed to Aurangabad sadar hospital where two were in critical condition.
