A 35-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three persons in her house in Kudur in Magadi taluk in Ramnagar on Saturday night.
The alleged incident took place around 10.30 p.m. The complainant was at home with her eight-year-old son. Her husband, Narendra, is a truck driver. He had away from home on work for two months.
When the trio knocked on the door, the woman opened the window and asked the reason for their visit. The trio sought the phone number of Narendra. She asked them to come in the morning and closed the window, said the police.
“The trio broke open the door, barged inside, overpowered her and took turns raping her till the next morning,” a senior police officer said.
The woman approached neighbours for help. A police team shifted her to Rajarajeshwari Nagar hospital for treatment.
Based on her statement, a case under Section 376D ( rape by one or more persons constituting a group or acting in furtherance of a common intention) has been registered.
The accused — Purushottam, 32; Manjunath, 27; and Kardi, 25 — are believed to be friends of her husband and residents of Magadi. They are on the run.
