PUNE: The Bund Garden police on Friday booked two engineering students of a college near Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) for submitting fake and fabricated caste validity certificates to secure admission.

Police booked a 20-year-old male student, a resident of Pimple Gurav, and a girl, aged 19 years, of Nana Peth.

The FIR states that the two students secured admission in January 2017. The male student is a second-year mechanical engineering while the girl is pursuing her first year of telecommunication engineering.

Both cleared their HSC examinations and submitted fake caste validity certificates to the centralized admission committee. During verification, it was realized that these documents were never issued by the caste verification department.

The two cases were studied by the technical education department, Maharashtra state, and orders were issued to file cases against the two students.
