Two murders in less than 24 hours in Chennai

CHENNAI: The city witnessed two murders in less than 24 hours.

In the first incident, a man murdered his wife in Avadi as she refused to live with him on Friday night. Madabhoopathy, 42, of Koyambedu, a fish vendor, often quarrelled with Kaleeshwari, 37.

He would come home drunk from work. Following this, Kaleeshwari went to her relative's house near Avadi. On Friday, Madabhoopathy met his wife in Kollumedu and asked her to come with him.

As she denied, Madabhoopathy murdered her and escaped. Later, police arrested and remanded him in prison.

In another murder, three fishermen beaten an unknown man to death suspecting him as a thief in Kasimedu. Satish Kumar, 39, of Kasimedu, Iyyappan, 37, of Villupuram and Raja, 40, of Tiruvannamalai found a stranger sleeping inside their boat.

As the man gave contradictory replies, they beat him badly and he swooned. Later, they took him to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. tnn
