Child-lifting scare: Assam man beaten up by locals
BENGALURU: Residents of Doddenakundi tied a 45-year-old man to an electric pole and thrashed him, suspecting him to be a child-lifter, before handing him over to police on Saturday. The man, Chandrakumar, is a resident of Assam.

As many as 22 people have been lynched across the country on the basis of a fake WhatsApp message about child lifting.

Residents said they saw Chandrakumar roaming suspiciously and one couple said he tried to abduct their child. Police are probing the allegations.
