African elephants, majestic giraffes and stalking lions will cut an surreal sight on Corwen’s green fields next weekend.
They will be among a series of life-sized animal sculptures, crafted by steel artists from around the world, that are being showcased at this year’s Rhug Country Fair.
The display is being organised by the British Ironwork Centre, Oswestry, at the Rhug Estate , Corwen, on the weekend of July 7-8.

One section of the fair will be dedicated to fishing area, with casting demonstrations and fly fishing lessons.
Another will be set aside for shooting: as well as featuring a BASC shooting school, this will offer clay pigeon shooting, archery, air rifles and the ancient rural sport of “Coet throwing”.

A fun dog show will be held on both days, plus Dei Bando terrier racing and an open display of vintage vehicles.
Other attractions include axe racing and a wood carving arena – the main carvings will be auctioned on Sunday afternoon. There’s also a licensed, undercover bar
