AROUND 4000 CLAIMS AND OBJECTIONS RECEIVED

Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said as many as 4,000 claims and objections had been received from people living in Gurugram city after a survey was conducted to determine compensation for the constructions and property falling within a radius of 300 meters of Ayudh Depot in Gurugram city.

Most of the objections relate to the property,  propriety and the type of construction, he said.

Under the Defence Act, construction was prohibited within 900-meter raidus of an ammunition depot, and a case regarding this was also under consideration in Punjab and Haryana High Court. The committee constituted by the Government of India has given in principle approval by reducing the restricted radius from 900 to 300 meters.

On the order of the court, survey of the properties located within 300-meter radius has been done by the Municipal Corporation to determine the compensation for those properties. On the basis of report of this survey, the district administration had sought claims and objections from the affected people, he said.

He said that the time fixed for registration of claims and objections ended last week. Now, the Municipal Corporation would get the claims and objections verified through field visits, after which, the procedure to determine the compensation would begin.

Since the case of construction within 900-meter radius of ammunition depot has attracted stay orders from the High Court, no new construction work is permitted within that radius, the Deputy Commissioner added.
