Two hundred low-floor non-AC buses will ply across the Millennium City as part of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority-run city bus service. The service will take off on August 15.
This announcement was made by Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh at a press conference on Thursday.
Mr. Singh said these buses will ply on 11 different routes and 450 bus shelters are being built across the city for convenience of commuters. He said three bus depots are being established in Sectors 10, 54 and 72 for bus service in Gurugram.
A depot will be built at Manesar in the next phase since a large number of passengers travel from there. He said there was a plan to build the main Gurugram bus stand at Sihi village. An integrated project of the bus stand with the Metro depot will also be prepared, said Mr. Singh

In view of the onset of monsoon, Mr. Singh said 30 waterlogging-prone points have been identified to install motors to pump out water. He said drains have been de-silted and the Badshahpur drain will also run to its full capacity.
Five new cities
Mr. Singh said five new cities will be developed along Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway and first of these will come up to the south of Gurugram near Manesar. It will be spread over an area of 50,000 hectares. He said the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation has already floated Request for Proposal for the project.
