A militant was killed on Friday morning in the forests of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir in an encounter with security forces. According to an army official, personnel received information on the presence of militants and launched a search operation in the forest area of Trehgam in Kupwara, reported news agency PTI.

The identity of the militant and group affiliation is yet to be ascertained.
