Union consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister Ram Vilas Paswan will chair the fourth national consultation of Ministers of States and Union Territory's incharge of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs in New Delhi today.

The agenda of this meeting will be to discuss measures required to maintain and manage prices of essential food items at reasonable prices through appropriate policy intervention.

Issues like enforcement of the provisions of Essential Commodities Act, prevention of black marketing, maintenance of supplies and the progress of National Food Security which is now being implemented in all the States and Union Territories.

Functioning of grievance redressal and monitoring mechanism, will also be reviewed in the meeting.

The meeting will also discuss the status of implementation of the revamped scheme for SC/ST hostels and welfare institutions.
