One militant was killed on Friday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's border district of Kupwara.
The terrorist was killed in the encounter near Trehgam town at 5.30 am, Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia told IANS.
"It was a specific operation based on intelligence inputs and the operation is now over," Kalia added.
In a separate incident, two army personnel were injured when militants hurled a grenade towards an Army patrol party in Shopian district.
A grenade was lobbed towards an Army patrol party in Ahgam area of Shopian in south Kashmir, a police official said.
He said two Army men were injured in the explosion.
Their condition is stated to be stable, the official said.
The attack comes a day after top officials reviewed security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra which commenced on Thursday.
