Perform or perish, Das to officials

Underlining the ample opportunities available for growth in the State, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has expressed anguish over the slow progress of various projects and warned the officials against their attitude, asking them to "perform or perish."

The CM was holding a meeting about the progress of infrastructural projects in different stages in Jharkhand where he came down heavily against the obstructions created in their execution.

"We have not been able to develop as per the potential due to pendency of files. Sitting on files would not do. The officials coming in the way of development in the garb of rules and regulations would be handed over VRS. The Government would not allow red-tapism to take place," said the CM during the meeting on Thursday.

He, on the occasion, stressed over importance of the infrastructure projects for the people and their livelihood and added that no leniency would be acceptable. "All the works related to the projects should be completed in timely manner with deadlines. If we all work as a team progress is sure to be made. There are areas where we have progressed but lots of areas still require the push," he added.

Suggesting the official in the meeting the CM told them to seek all the desired information and inputs at the time of application or when clearance is sought. "Keep asking for new information slows the pace of development. Compete all the paper works during monsoon so that work can start on ground from August 20. NOC for taking out welfare schemes like toilet building, PMAY on PSUs land should be given within 30 days else it would be deemed granted," said the CM. He also told officials to finish mutation of the land identified for displaced by August 15 and hand over ownership papers to the families.

Coming to the closed coal block the CM directed officials to remove glitches so that locals can get employment and funds coming to DMF go up and utilised for the wellbeing of the people. He told officials to prepare a list of companies not showing interest in opening the mines which would be furnished to the Center.

Projects related to national highways running in Jharkhand besides railway projects related to doubling, construction of ROBs came for review. Mines of Panchwara-North and South, Jeetpur, Moitra, Brinda-Sisai, Meral, Dumri, Tubed etc, construction of airports at Deoghar, Bokaro, Dumka, Jamshedpur, Dhalbhumgarh, project to lay 1390 kms long pipeline under inland waterways and land acquisition to be made for that, gas pipelines project of Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhmara (3365 kms at Rs 12940 crore) were reviewed in the meeting.

Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Development Commissioner DK Tiwari, Principal Secretary to the CM Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Road Construction Secretary KK Soan, PCCF Sanjay Kumar, ADG RK Mallik, officials of several Departments and PSUs were present during the review.
