
Left party members are staging protest in Vijayawada to support the TDP MP CM Ramesh's hunger strike demanding Steel factory in Kadapa district.(EPS | R V K Rao)
KADAPA: Normal life in Kadapa district came to standstill following Kadapa District Bandh called by all opposition parties in the state demanding Steel Plant in Kadapa, as promised in the AP Reorganisation Act.
All educational institutions, commercial establishments, government offices were closed in Kadapa district. With buses relegated to bus depots in the district, bus stations wore a deserted look. With no movement of buses in the district, passengers bound for other regions outside the district got stranded in the bus stations.
From morning 4 a.m. onwards, activists of CPM, CPI, and other Left parties along with Janasena activists, YSRCP, Congress. BSP came onto the roads to impose bandh. Most of the commercial establishments and educational institutions were closed voluntarily.

CPM politburo member BV Raghavulu, CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna and others took out a bike rally in Kadapa as a mark of protest. Stating Kadapa Steel is right of Andhra, they demanded the Central Government keep its promise made to the state by establishing Kadapa steel plant.
Meanwhile, TDP Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh indefinite fast reached 10th day on Friday. Doctors are worried about deteriorating health condition of Ramesh. He is determined to continue his fast till the demand for Kadapa steel plant is conceded. IT Minister Nara Lokesh is expected to visit the protest camp to express solidarity to the fasting MP.
Elaborate police security has been made in the district to prevent any untoward incidents.
