The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered another case against a Delhi-based businessman in connection with the seizure of two antique pieces.
The agency had earlier seized 81 artefacts in another similar case.
The wooden artworks were found at the residence of one Subodh Dalal in East Patel Nagar during searches carried out on April 17. Mr. Dalal did not have any document to prove that they were registered. On inspection, the Archaeological Survey of India confirmed that they were antique pieces.
Subsequently, the CBI registered a case against him for alleged illegal possession of the artefacts.
In April, the first case under the Antiquities & Art Treasures Act and the Indian Penal Code was registered against Mr. Dalal after, acting on a tip-off about stolen antique pieces, the CBI raided a storeroom in East of Kailash where they were kept.
The agency found that 34 of them did not have any documentation.
