PATNA:
Nationalist Congress Party general secretary Tariq Anwar has backed RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's stand that the doors of Grand Alliance are shut on Nitish Kumar. "The JD (U) president and Bihar CM is not trustworthy and there is no guarantee that he will not change sides in future," Anwar said.
Talking to media persons in Patna on Thursday, the Katihar MP said his party would organise a rally in Delhi in August to press for special category status for Bihar. "If special status is not possible, the Centre should fulfil its promise of special economic package to the state," he said and added the promised package would be the main poll plank in the state in the 2019 election.
Making a formal appeal to all opposition parties, Anwar said, "Bihar won't get special status by begging for it. We need to assert ourselves to get what is rightfully ours," he said and recalled how PM Narendra Modi ignored CM Nitish begging for central university status to
Patna University during the university's centenary celebrations not long ago.
Anwar termed UP CM Yogi Adityanath's comment on quota for dalits in AMU and Jamia Millia Islamia as a political stunt.
