Premier League transfer news and rumours
Toni Kroos: Real Madrid to Manchester United
Manchester United are plotting a “massive bid” to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, United boss Jose Mourinho believes Kroos would be an ideal addition to the Old Trafford midfield and the German “could bring out the best” in Paul Pogba.
If United do bid for the 28-year-old German international he won’t come cheap. AS says that Kroos has a four-year contract with Real and the European champions will tell any potential suitors they will have to “trigger the €500m [£441.9m] release clause” in his contract.
Alisson Becker: Roma to Chelsea
Real Madrid and Liverpool had been favourites to sign Alisson Becker from Roma, but it appears that Chelsea could swoop for Brazil’s World Cup goalkeeper. It’s reported that Chelsea are close to signing the 25-year-old for around £62m. A deal for Alisson would surely see Thibaut Courtois leave Stamford Bridge - for either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. (Metro via Marca)
Aleksandr Golovin: CSKA Moscow to Chelsea
As well as Alisson, Chelsea are also keen on Russia star Aleksandr Golovin. The 22-year-old midfielder has been linked with Juventus and Arsenal, but the Blues have “initiated talks” with his club CSKA Moscow. (Daily Mail)
Marco Asensio: Real Madrid to Liverpool

Daniele Rugani: Juventus to Chelsea
Daniele Rugani’s move from Juventus to Chelsea will depend on whether Maurizio Sarri is appointed as the new manager at Stamford Bridge. Sarri is expected to replace Antonio Conte and Rugani’s agent Davide Torchia said: “It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first. After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.” (The Sun)
Kieran Tierney: Celtic to Everton
Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney is being lined up by Everton as a “long-term replacement for Leighton Baines”. Scotland international Tierney, 21, has also been linked in recent months with a move to Manchester United. (Daily Mirror)
Rooney: America was always the plan
Wayne Rooney last night completed his move from Everton to DC United. Former England captain Rooney joins the Major League Soccer (MLS) side on a three-and-a-half-year contract. The 32-year-old said: “I think it has always been part of my plans to come here [to America] at some stage in my career, and the time is now. I have been really excited with the project DC have put together and what they presented to me - so that was the reason to come to DC.” (Sky Sports)
