Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that government schemes should be implemented in a time-bound manner. Mr. Tomar held wide-ranging discussions with some MPs and senior officials on the DISHA initiative in New Delhi yesterday.

According to a statement issued by the Rural Development ministry, DISHA Week is being celebrated from June 25 to 29 to mark completion of two years of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee.

Awards of appreciation were conferred for exemplary work towards regular organisation of DISHA meetings to Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mizoram and Uttarakhand.

The minister urged all the MPs and other representatives to increase their participation and also the number of meetings to ensure that the schemes are better implemented. On the occasion, state-level guidelines and District committees guidelines were also released.

District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) was named as Disha for effective development coordination of almost all the programmes of Central Government, whether it is for infrastructure development or Social and human resource development.

The main purpose of this committee is to coordinate with Central and State Governments and local Panchayat for successful and timely implementation of the Central schemes.
