Man in wheelchair shot in foot in Sydney's west

A man in a wheelchair has been shot in the foot in Sydney's west in what police believe was a targeted shooting.

Police were called to Phillips Street, Auburn, about 9.40am to reports of the shooting in a public place.

Paramedics treated the 34-year-old man at the scene for a gunshot wound to his left foot, and he was taken in a stable condition to Westmead Hospital, an ambulance spokesman said.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for public assistance to locate a white vehicle, believed to be a four-door Lexus sedan, with tinted windows and black and white number plates.
