Arsenal transfer news: could Spurs star Son Heung-min become a Gunner?

Arsenal are chasing Tottenham forward Son Heung-min, reports the Daily Star, passing on news carried by German outlet SPORT1.

The Gunners have reportedly jumped the queue for the services of the 25-year-old from South Korea, whose goal against Germany yesterday sealed one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in Son but apparently the Gunners are determined to lure him across north London.

The Star says that Son’s Tottenham future is “in some doubt as he looks to take his career to the next level”, but if Arsenal are to get their man it will cost them around £62m. 

Golovin won’t be a Gunner

Tough luck Arsenal, but Aleksandr Golovin won’t succumb to the advances of new Gunners boss Unai Emery because “his heart is set on a move to Juventus”. So claims talkSPORT, which cites the Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport as its source.

Apparently Arsenal, along with Manchester United and Chelsea, have been tracking the Russian winger after his eye-catching performances in the World Cup.

CSKA Moscow have let it be known they’re open to offers, but only in the region of £26m.

Juventus’s latest offer is £17m plus a 10% sell-on clause, and while that’s not good enough for CSKA it’s believed they will meet the asking price such is their desire to land 22-year-old Golovin.

A new Spanish blocker?

Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo is the latest defender to be linked to the Emirates with Caughtoffside quoting a report in Spanish daily AS about the possible move.

Unai Emery has been scouring Spain this summer for youngsters he believes can help rejuvenate the Gunners and the 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic fits the bill.

Highly regarded by Real Betis, Firpo is comfortable as a left-sided full-back or on the left side of midfield, and AS claim that his £22m release clause poses no problem to the north London outfit.

Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac have appeared at left wing-back in recent months but the latter hasn’t impressed and Caughtoffside says that Emery is “looking to replace the Bosnian in that position”.
