Two MTC buses were damaged by passengers, including school students, after they got into an altercation with the bus crew in different parts of the city on Tuesday.
According to the police, V. Sivakumar was driving bus route N - 45B, from Nanganallur. When the vehicle was going past Valluvar Silai bus stop in Mylapore around 5.20 p.m., a few school students boarded it.
As they were travelling on the footboard, the driver asked them to get inside. They got down on R.K. Salai and damaged the rear window pane of the vehicle with a bat. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man was arrested by the police for breaking the glass pane of an MTC bus near Arumbakkam on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, Rajendran, 53, of Red Hills was driving bus route 15D. Manikandan from Madurai was travelling in the bus. He was asked to get down as he did not have a ticket and was drunk. He got down and threw a stone at the bus. The rear window pane was damaged. Rajendran alerted a patrol vehicle and Manikandan was detained.
