I am yet to meet someone who loves his city so completely and with such passion as Rajesh Govindarajulu. The things he knows! So when he organises a heritage walk, it is to be taken seriously, as the walkway will be strewn with gems.
If you are a history buff and a fan of Coimbatore, join Govindrajulu on a walk that is all of 2.5 km and will keep you entertained with anecdotes and historical facts about the people who lived there once upon a time.
“Race Course is not just about impressive bungalows,” Govindarajulu assures me. There are heritage structures here that are witness to watershed moments in history.
The Masonic Lodge, the Collector’s Residence, a couple of eerily beautiful bungalows (I am positive they are haunted) will be pointed out to the walkers.
There is plenty to be unearthed right there but Govindarajulu is keeping most of the stories close to his chest to be revealed only during the walk.
A little meander here, a peep there and, at the end of the Heritage Walk, we will be prouder of our city than ever before, promises Govindarajulu.
