Guv launches water, sanitation project

Governor Ganeshi Lal on Wednesday launched a water and sanitation project, which was constructed by the Indian Red Cross Society here.

The Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch president said the Red Cross is committed for community development and humanitarian activities, especially to meet the basic needs. The project over the next two years would reach over 8,000 families in Ganjam and Nayagarh districts, he added.

Sharing the details, the Indian Red Cross Society secretary general Dr RK Vats said, “The goal of the project is to enable rural communities in the districts of Ganjam and Nayagarh to manage water and sanitation systems, in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission”.

The project would leverage and align its activities with the Swachh Bharat Mission and in partnership with the Republic of Korea National Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Samsung Community Chest fund.

Among others, Blood Bank Director and Project Supervisor (Health) Dr Vanshree Singh and national programme manager from IRCS, New Delhi Chiranjeet Das were present.
