Sundowns: There's no fight with Percy Tau

2018-06-28 12:47

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa says there is no rift between the club and Percy Tau over a proposed move to Brighton Hove and Albion in the English Premier League.

The Seagulls reportedly made an offer for the star forward though negotiations have reportedly stalled over the transfer fee for the player, with Sundowns said to be holding out for a higher offer.

As such, Tau has not reported for pre-season training which started last Sunday leading to suggestions he is unsettled at Chloorkop.

Nonetheless, Thuswa has refuted those claims and says that the side are in full support of him wanting a move abroad.

He told Kickoff: "When clubs want to engage Mamelodi Sundowns about players, they know the channels and they know how to approach, with respect.

"When you want to buy something, you must show that you want it. When you want to buy something, you must commit and show respect in your approach.

"We are happy with the interest and where it's coming from. We've maintained that interest should come from the top five leagues. The coach said that and we stick to that.

"We want Percy to go to a top team. It’s been a while since South African players were exported to top teams. We want to send our players to top leagues and to clubs that respect them and the process.

"There's no fight with Percy Tau. We don't fight with our own kids. All we want is for the process to be respected and for people to make the right offers for our players. Offers that respect the league and our pedigree as Sundowns. Percy will go overseas. We love him too much for us to stand in his way."
