Maghar, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a veiled attack on the opposition over their greed for power, on Thursday charged they were creating instability in the country.
After paying tributes to Kabir and laying the foundation for the Kabir Academy here, he said some political parties did not want peace, harmony in society.
“They are cut off from ground realities and have no idea that the saintly leaders like Kabir had shown us the way. Such people never took Kabir seriously,” he said.
“There are those who only want to see chaos and want to create doubt and fear in the minds of people, they think that by doing so, they will gain politically, but those parties are completely cut-off from the reality on the ground,” he added.
Mr Modi said his government on the other hand was forging ahead on the teachings of saint Kabir and other saints of the country.
Targeting BSP-SP-Cong leadership. “Those who imposed Emergency are trying to form alliances,” said the Prime Minister, using ‘Kabir Bhakti’ to fight joint Opposition.
He said, “Two days ago was the 43rd anniversary of Emergency. It is the greed for power that those who imposed and those who opposed Emergency have come together today. They don’t see the welfare of society but only the welfare of themselves and their families.”
“There are some parties who do not want peace and development but unrest. They think if there will be unrest, they will be politically benefitted. Such people are cut off from their roots. They don’t know the nature of this nation of Sant Kabir, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Ambedkar,” he said.
‘Those who couldn’t see eye to eye are now standing shoulder to shoulder, not for the benefit of you people, but to see their personal gains by somehow coming to power. All they are interested in is how to loot and make money, added the PM.
Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), without taking names, the PM said, “Some political leaders were more keen to hold back their bungalows.
Instead of understanding Kabir and following his message of love and care, the minds of leaders today are occupied by materialistic thoughts of bungalows.”
The PM said governments in the past only calculated personal gains, and never cared for the people.” Those who talk of Samajwad and Bahujan are only concerned about how to wrest power. They will lie and even harm the well being of people just to come to power,” he said, while adding that a lot of ‘families’ are fixed to subvert Kabir’s teachings.
He even blamed the opposition for putting a barrier on the triple talaq law to ban it .”You know who are trying to block our efforts to ban Triple Talaq. They are joining forces to derail our efforts.
We have done a lot for the poor over the last four years. We have done more for poor than what has been done in over 40 years before our government came to power,” PM claimed.
“People of Uttar Pradesh and the country need to be alert about these people. You have seen the face of these people even after Triple Talaq. These people have fixed roadblocks to pass the Triple Talaq bill. These people don’t want to see society prosper,” he charged on the opposition.
Mr Modi said that Kabir fought to break the caste barriers, and gave a clear message to the BJP workers for the coming 2019 Lok Sabha polls asking them to reach out to every person irrespective of caste and creed , amid the party’s image of a ‘nationalist Hindutva’ party.
He also quoted Kabir’s couplet — ‘Kabir khada bazaar mein, maang raha khair, na keh sake dosti, na keh sake bair. This can be interpreted as Modi’s appeal of “sabka saath, sabka vikaas” to 125 crore Indians.
Saint Kabir, Guru Nanak and Baba Gorakhnath meditated at this town, often referred to as ‘gateway to hell’. “You don’t need a special guide or a translation book to understand Kabir. He made sure to reach out to every person and convey his message .
Kabir Das not only gave direction to the society, but also reformed it. He spoke the language of common man and showed way to communal harmony,” the PM said.
