Cyril Rioli back in Melbourne

Cyril Rioli is back in Melbourne but his playing future is no clearer.

The Hawthorn star has been on indefinite leave from the club for a fortnight, returning to Darwin with his family for personal reasons. It followed an extended absence from Waverley over summer, which had come about as his father battled ill health.

The Hawks confirmed on Thursday that Rioli, 28, was back in Melbourne but would not reveal any more details about the Norm Smith medallist's plans, with the club keen to respect Rioli's privacy.

The four-time premiership hero and fan favourite is contracted until the end of 2020.
