US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the era of "global freeloading and taking advantage of the United States" was over. He told rallygoers in Fargo, North Dakota, that his tariff standoff with China, the European Union and Canada was aimed at fixing his predecessors' "disastrous trade deals" that had "plundered our wealth". "They say Trump is starting a trade war. I say no, the trade war ended a long time ago. And the United States lost because our leaders didn't take care of our people and our companies," the president told the crowd. Trump travelled to Fargo to campaign for Republican Senate hopeful Kevin Cramer, who is hoping to unseat Democrat Heidi Heitkamp. (AP)
