FALL RIVER — City paramedics transported a 36-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest from St. Anne’s Hospital to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence on Tuesday night, Lt. Ron Furtado confirmed.

He said the man, whom police were not identifying, told authorities he was stabbed in a city park by another man. He told police he did not known the suspect or the park he was in, Furtado said.

He said when rescue workers were transporting him they deemed his injuries “non life-threatening,” although earlier police reports, including those picked up by The Herald News on the police scanner, said they were life-threatening.

He was transferred about 7:30 to Rhode Island Hospital, Furtado said. He said records did not state how he came to St. Anne’s.
