Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Katrougalos lately managed a government team and business mission to South Korea to take part in the 3rd Greek-South Korean Meeting of the Joint Interministerial Committee.
Attended by South Korea Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun, during the meeting, both sides established that new prospects in terms of cooperation would open in the sectors of shipping, tourism, agri-food and energy.
Representing Greek tourism at the time of the meeting was the Secretary General of Tourism, Evridiki Kourneta, who highlighted on the issues related to intensification of tourism ties with two countries.
Kourneta emphasized that Greece was keen to launch direct flight connections with South Korea to boost up arrival numbers in both countries. Also, she referred to increasing Greeceās tourism offer through special forms of tourism.
For Greece, South Korea is among the target markets to attract visitors of high purchasing power.
As per recent data, Greece is at present seeing a 10 percent growth in bookings from South Korea.
During her visit to Seoul, the secretary general took part in the opening ceremony of the Import Goods Fair 2018 at the COEX International Exhibition Center and visited the Greek stands. Also, she took part in a delegation of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) and in the meetings organized between Greek entrepreneurs operating in South Korea and a group of Korean importers of Greek products.
