Businessmen demand cycle track, footpaths

LUDHIANA: Member of parliament and BJP state president Shwait Malik on Wednesday evening met city businessmen under BJP’s ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ program. Several prominent businessmen of the city too were part of this meeting during which several issues were discussed. Malik was also honoured by the businessmen with a momento.

Some of the major issues raised by the businessmen included making of cycling tracks and footpaths in Ludhiana and other big cities, starting new trains to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar from Dhandari Railway Station so as to provide relief to the labourers working in Ludhiana. In addition to this, the businessmen also demanded that domestic and international civilian flights be allowed to fly from Halwara Airforce Base and improve the conditions of Focal Points of Ludhiana. Industrialists also demanded a special package for bicycle industry so that businessmen can compete with cheap products coming from China. Businessmen also handed over a memorandum to Malik for prime minister Narendra Modi mentioning their demands.

Meanwhile, assuring the bizmen that their concerns will be looked into, Malik said Union government has worked day and night to make business-friendly environment in India and finish red tapism. Some of the businessmen present on the occasion included Chairman cum managing director of Avon Cycles Onkar Singh Pahwa and director Mandeep Pahwa, Managing director of Hero Cycles SK Rai, Chairman cum Managing director of Hero Eco Vijay Munjal, Former CII Punjab Chief SS Bhogal, KK Seth, Gurmeet Kular, Sanjeev Ahuja and others.
