GURUGRAM: In 2017, 25-year-old Tanisha Dhingra approached volunteers of the Indian
Cancer Society (ICS) working in Medanta - The Medicity, for a fun-filled get-together for
cancer patients and caregivers.
Dhingra was diagnosed with cancer at age 22 but survived, and this made her doubly determined to provide support and comfort to those suffering from the disease, and to assure them that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thus, was the initiative ‘Break Free from Cancer’ born.
A year on, Medanta hosted the second edition of the programme, and it was received with as much enthusiasm and good vibes as was the debut. Here is a forum where cancer patients and caregivers can gather for a few hours of smiles and laughter, and not be weighed down by the fears and worries the disease invariably evokes.
