GHAZIABAD: The UP State Industrial Development Corporation has refused to share the cost of metro Phase 3 project in Ghaziabad. In a meeting held with GDA officials in Lucknow on Wednesday over funding pattern, the industrial development commissioner has shot down the development agency’s proposal that UPSIDC should hand over its share in metro Phase 3 project from its infrastructural development fund.

The meeting was attended by GDA secretary Santosh Rai and industrial development commissioner Anup Pandey in Lucknow.

“Industrial development commissioner Anup Pandey expressed his organisation’s inability to share the cost of the project citing paucity of funds,” said a source in GDA. “We had proposed to UPSIDC that it should use its infrastructural development fund to bear the cost for the project but we were told that the UPSIDC has only Rs 226 crore in its kitty which it will use for its own project. Hence it cannot divert the fund for the project,” said an official. Earlier, on May 24, the GDA had held a meeting with the chief secretary and stakeholders like UPSIDC, housing board and GMC over the issue of funding pattern of metro Phase 3 project. The GDA had put forth the proposal that the Centre and UP government should jointly fund the project. However, the chief secretary had categorically told the GDA that the agencies will have to jointly fund the project on the lines of Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand metro project.

As per the DPR submitted by DMRC for two metro extension projects, the estimated cost has been pegged at Rs 4,048 crore. The Noida Sector 62- Sahibabad link will be 5.11km in length and will be on an elevated platform. It will have four stations-Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand and Vasundhara sector 5 of Vasundhara. This estimated cost for this section has been pegged at Rs 1,930 crore.

The second part of the project, that is Vaishali to Mohan Nagar, will be 5.06 kilometre in length and will cost Rs 2118 crore.
