The Karnataka High Court on Thursday declined to cancel the bail granted to journalist Ravi Belagere by a trial court in a case of alleged conspiracy to kill a former colleague.
Justice John Michael Cunha rejected the petition while observing that there was no justifiable ground to cancel the bail as the police have not alleged that he had violated conditions of bail. The High Court said that the trial court had considered all relevant materials while granting bail.
The police, in their petition filed in March this year, had claimed that the trial court had not properly appreciated the materials available against the accused journalist on the serious charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy, besides the recovery of a pistol. Mr. Belagere is facing the allegation of conspiring to kill his former colleague, Sunil Heggaravalli.
