‘NCS portal of Union Govt a boon for job-seekers’

Under the Digital India programme of the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment,NCS portal (www.ncs.gov.in), 4.25 crore job seekers, 14.87 lakh employers, 28,000 skill providers, 3,000 counsellors and other key stakeholders have registered.

This was informed by Principal Labour and Employment Advisor BN Nanda while speaking to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (NCSCDA) here on Tuesday.

Nanda informed that the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has supported various State Governments to establish 107 Model Career

Service Centre(MCC) in last two years, out of which six MCCs have been established in Odisha at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Gajapati.

About 100 MCCs will be established in current financial year and definitely some more MCCs will be established in Odisha for which the Government of India provides grant up to Rs 50 lakh for each MCC and one young professional for a period of three years.

The State Government appoints two qualified career counsellors in each MCC. At present, around 982 employment exchanges are functioning across the country, he stated.

While personally observing the empowerment programmes for PwDs run by the NCSCDA, Bhubaneswar, Nanda appreciated the unique initiatives of the NCSCDA, particularly joint collaborative programmes with the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), Department of Social Security and Empowerment of PwDs through skill development, wage employment and self employment.

Assistant Director (Employment), NCSCDA, Ram Kishor Sharma made a presentation of various activities of NCSCDA and future plans. J Padmanav Rao proposed vote of thanks.
