Major Nikhil Handa, accused of killing Major Amit Dwivedi’s wife Shailza Dwivedi, was taken to Meerut by the police on Wednesday, said DCP (West) Vijay Kumar.
Major Handa was arrested from Meerut on Sunday. The police suspect he dumped his bloodstained clothes and the knife on the way.
A senior police officer said on Wednesday that the Major was taken to Meerut to revisit the spots he had visited after the incident.
Mr. Kumar said the 40-year-old accused was trying to give incorrect information to the investigators. The DCP said Major Handa met his brother after the incident and they travelled from C.R. Park to Akshardham in his car.
Brother’s version
His brother said Major Handa had told him he was involved in an accident and did not mention anything about killing a woman, Mr. Kumar said.
He said the police took Major Handa to a few places in Delhi and Meerut, where he claimed to have dumped the murder weapon but it is yet to be found. The police are also yet to recover the towel which Major Handa claimed he had burnt after wiping bloodstains.
