GURUGRAM: A man was killed and another critically injured when a speeding
truck hit them near a roadside
dhaba in
Bilaspur in the early hours of Wednesday. The accused fled with his truck after the
collision. An FIR has been filed.
Truck driver Rajesh Kumar (30) and his helper Deepak (21), both residents of Jaipur, had stopped their truck at a dhaba in Bilaspur around 12.30am on Wednesday.
The duo were checking the tyres of the truck when a speeding truck hit them from behind. Deepak was crushed to death while Rajesh was critically injured.
The dhaba staff and customers tried to stop the accused, but he managed to flee. One of them noted the registration number of the truck. They informed police, who soon reached the spot. Deepak and Rajesh were taken to a nearby hospital, where the former was declared brought dead by doctors. Rajesh is still being treated and his condition is reported to be critical.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Om Prakash, Deepak’s relative, an FIR was register-ed against the unidentified truck driver under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety) and 304A (death due to negligence) of the IPC at Bilaspur police station on Wednesday.
“We’ve handed over the body to kin. We’re trying to track the accused with the help of his truck’s registration number,” said sub-inspector Babu Ram, the investigating officer.
