Members of the Andhra Pradesh Model School Teachers Federation on Wednesday staged a demonstration urging the State government to takeover model schools and implement the recommendations of the MLCs committee to improve the functioning of the schools.
Leading the protest, District President E.Ramesh Babu said the retirement age of the teachers employed in these schools should be increased to 65 years. Vacancies for the post of principals of schools should be filled only after publishing the seniority list, added General Secretary Narasimha Rao. They said that transfer of teachers should be made effective after counselling and pressed for appointments to eligible family members of deceased teachers. They said that the Government should erect compound walls for schools without walls and release an academic planner.
