Raman welcomes CII proposal

Welcoming the proposal of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to work with State Government for development of 10 Aspirational Districts of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh said it was a good sign.

“If this association of industrial organizations is offering to work for betterment of poor and forest dwellers of such districts, it would layout new avenues for development,” he said.

Chief Minister was addressing the convention of CII members on Wednesday. He said that State Government is working for development of backward districts with coordination of Central and State schemes, utilizing District Mineral Fund and CSR funds of various public undertakings. CII can contribute in development of education, health, drinking water, cleanliness, electricity and infrastructural development and livelihood sectors.

Singh stated that Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh is a leading and model district for development works in 115 aspiring districts of the country. This is the reason why Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come on visit to Bijapur.

He also talked about Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur's education city. Education facility like for children of tribal region is not available even in developed districts of the state, he adds.

He also welcomed CII's Central Committee's decision to study the development model of Dantewada. Chief Minister invited members of the committee for tour to Dantewada district.

Singh in his address threw light on the development journey of Chhattisgarh in last 18 years and the initiatives-decisions taken by the state government for public welfare. He also highlighted the pro-industrial policies, facilities and resources provided by Chhattisgarh Government for industrial development of the state.

On the occasion, Chairman of CII Eastern Region Ms Jagi Mangat Pandya, Chairman of Western Region Piruj Khambata, Vice-Chairman of Eastern Region C.S. Ghosh, Chairman of CII Chhattisgarh chapter Pankaj Sarda, Vice-Chairman Narendra Goyal, CII Triveni Water Institute Executive Director Kapil Narula and representatives of various industrial associations were present.
