Chelsea fashion boutique owner Claudia Sebire on how to perfect your professional look

The key to dressing successfully at work is to make sure you have a selection of outfits that can take you from day to evening, boardroom to weekend and every social occasion in between.

Whatever your lifestyle, my view has long been that the foundation to looking good is feeling confident in what you wear. And a large part of that is keeping things manageable and simple.

When it comes to the way I dress, I curate a work wardrobe for myself where all the pieces go together and then I can rotate with ease. Deciding what to wear for work is relatively easy for me as it is almost consistently monochrome.

For my clients I always encourage two key points to putting together a good wardrobe:

First, a narrow pant is a staple for executive dressing in that it can take you from day to night effortlessly. For the boardroom, team the narrow pant with a court shoe and great blazer, then add a stylish top and heel for the evening.

Second, re-think the classic trouser suit. Pink, smart and sleek separates instead making it easy to mix and match to create a range of looks.

Styling has always been a passion of mine but I think it is because of my business background that executive women feel comfortable with me as I understand the demands of a high-powered job and the range of outfits that often go with that role.

Each day I have several styling appointments with clients from a diverse range of professional industries from banking, the law and media and find it fascinating to see how dress codes have changed over the last 30 years.

I have known many of my clients for many years, a few from the very beginning, and we have a lovely, trusted working relationship. These clients are incredibly important to me and I always buy with them in mind.
