Kanpur hooch tragedy: PPS officer suspended for laxity

The Director General of Police today suspended a posted in Dehat, where nine persons had died in a hooch tragedy in May.

Nine persons had died in Rura area of Dehat on May 20 after consuming spurious liquor.

Taking note of the incident, the DGP had ordered a probe into the matter, an said here.

In the probe, the then Circle officer, Akbarpur, was found lax in performing his duties and has been suspended today by the DGP OP Singh, he said.
